ENGLISH: St. James The Apostle
On December 26, the Church celebrates the feast of St. James the Greater, one of the twelve apostles chosen by the Lord and who is represented as a pilgrim or as a soldier mounted on a white horse in an attitude of struggle.
St. Chrysostom will say that he was the most courageous and courageous apostle.
The "son of thunder" as Jesus put him and his brother St. John the Evangelist, is patron of Spain and its cavalry, as well as tanners, veterinarians, riders and several cities in the world.
The Spanish name of Santiago comes from the words Sant Iacob, from the Hebrew Jacob. During the battles the Spaniards used to shout "Sant Iacob, help us" and when he said it quickly, he sounded like Santiago.
He was a witness with John and Peter of the Transfiguration of the Lord on Mount Tabor, of the miraculous catch and prayer of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, among the most representative passages.

El 26 de diciembre la Iglesia celebra la fiesta de Santiago el Mayor, uno de los doce apóstoles elegidos por el Señor y que se le representa vestido de peregrino o como un soldado montado en un caballo blanco en actitud de lucha.
San Crisóstomo dirá que él fue el apóstol más atrevido y valiente.
El “hijo del trueno” como le puso Jesús a él y a su hermano San Juan el Evangelista, es patrono de España y de su caballería, así como de los curtidores, veterinarios, equitadores y de varias ciudades en el mundo.
El nombre de Santiago proviene de las palabras Sant Iacob, del hebreo Jacob. Durante las batallas los españoles solían gritar "Sant Iacob, ayúdenos" y al decirlo rápido repetitivamente sonaba a Santiago.
Fue testigo con Juan y Pedro de la Transfiguración del Señor en el Monte Tabor, de la pesca milagrosa y de la oración de Jesús en el Huerto de Getsemaní, entre los pasajes más representativos.
