St. John & St. Paul, Martyrs - San Juan & San Pablo, Mártires

ENGLISH:
Saint John and Saint Paul were Roman knights and relatives of Constance, daughter of the Emperor Constantine. John was steward and Paul was his secretary, who were engaged in works of piety, converting many with their words and examples.

Under the rule of Julian the Apostate, he sent them to say that he would like to use them if they abandoned the faith of Christ. The Saints answered that they did not leave the service of Constantine to serve another man, but to serve God, Creator of Heaven and Earth. Jailed, they were visited by Terentius, Julian's minister, inviting them to sacrifice the gods, otherwise he would have them slaughtered there, not wanting them to die in public because they were principal people. They replied: "If Julian is your master, beg to be his servant, we have no more master than Jesus Christ."

With this he ordered them to bury there secretly in a hole that was made in the same house. It was his martyrdom on June 26, the year of 826. The memory of these illustrious martyrs was always celebrated in the Church. In the time of Constantius a temple was built in his same house with the title of cardinal.
